As a result I took this and other pictures from a tourist’s point of view, as the only option I had, in available light without flash, in order to induce blur. The effect enhances their contrived air of mystery, a snatched glimpse or surprise sighting of these women as they hurry from one appointment to another.

Guy WoodGuy used to come to our flat to fix an ongoing leaky roof. For awhile he was spending more time in our flat than many of my mates. The more I got to know him the more I respected his work and his kind and caring personality. His look is quite hard and I wanted to capture that but I also wanted his true self to come through. The location is on our terrace with the leaking roof in the background. |

In the afternoon made an image of shoppers at the market green grocers stall ( it’s the mushrooms on the picture) to mark the well spent time. Here I intentionally kept the brush stroke very loose, almost as if I was painting with watercolours, not oils. |
Good for kit...available at http://www.olechkodotorg.etsy.com Had some great wind in our sales, or rather – wings – the other day when I took the butterfly-shaped kite for a fly in the park near Brick Lane. Managed to get it very high up – at full length of the twine, keep it there for a longest time possible, as well as not get it completely (just a bit) tangled up in the trees below... This is an oil on board painting, 6x6 in large, shipped without a frame in a foam lined manilla envelope when dry to touch. |
