I have not blogged in a while as we have been so inundated with entries for Real and all the planning that goes along side running a show. However, I could not let this article pass. Today's London's Evening Standard isrunning a story on Modern Art Dumped as Trash. Artists such as Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Julian Opie are donating works to add to this giant Art Bin, created by artist Michael Landy. Now I guess if we are to make comments about how this is denigrating art and artists in the process we would be derided for 'just not getting it' or not being smart enough to see that this is a reflection of the throw away nature of our society. But maybe this could herald the start of the end of an era: out with the old, in with the new.
Would any of you feel happy to dump your art in the bin? If so, apparently they are still receiving donations.

when will we grow up to the
when will we grow up to the point that we separe the trash can art from it's established older brother figurative art and get on with it. These are two altogether different diciplines, don't you think?
Modern Art .... rubbish
No, the last thing I'd do is that.
I doubt many "realistic" artists would either as I do not think we consider our work "throw away" and would be insulted (Mad as Hell!!) at anyone who suggested that.
