We are not used to snow in London. Aside from the practical and logistical difficulties it creates, the visual and audio impact of snow is quite amazing. The first thing I notice on venturing out is how quiet things have become. The lack of people, cars, vans and noise is wonderful. We live near an open heath land and the play of light on the undulating snow results in an incredible display of colours and blinding white.
Snow's beauty brings out creativity in us. In addition to the mandatory snowmen, there is evidence everywhere of our's need to create and leave our mark. Snow sculptures and even an igloo can been seen on the Heath.
Monet's Cart and Road under Snow from 1865 does well to capture the blues and oranges that only snow conditions can produce.

I agree...
I do agree Sally, the visual impact is amazing. Is it sooo beautiful and of course that after seeing so much beauty we feel the urge of creation.
The light is fantastic as well. Snow gives us the opportunity of entering into another world!
so true
I am loving the snowy light as well! The light just for working is already much-much better from the outside since the snow reflects and doubles it. Great little gift for me after grumping about how little natural light we get here in London.
Snow and light
Does the snow bring out your creativity? I would love to see examples of snow paintings.

Love snow but really hard to paint. I had a go whilst my son was off on a school snow day. it is on my home page at the moment.
