Our mission is to create opportunities for skilled and talented figurative artists, so that their work and knowledge inspires and encourages others. We are motivated by providing artists a platform for their work that might have otherwise have been difficult to find.

Go Figurative works closely with a group of people comprising experienced artists, art critics and academics, who respect the value and importance of figurative work, providing advice, and encouragement for artists working in this area.

The artists we feature have come to us in a number of ways; some by direct approaches made by the artist themselves, others by recommendation. We will be looking out for artists that are recommended by community members on Go Figurative.

Go Figurative works with a group of people comprising experienced artists, art critics, academics and community builders, who respect the value and importance of figurative work, providing advice, and encouragement for all artists working in this area and understand the value of building communities. People who have provided advice and support include:

We value the support and information supplied by the British Library's Business and IP Centre.

We have encountered many figurative artists who are working in isolation and see 'no way into the art world' despite having talent, skill, and a focus on visual communication using contemporary styles which go beyond 'kitsch representation'.

Some buyers, we suspect, also feel there is ‘no way in to the art world’ as they are alienated either by conceptual artwork, by price, or lack of understanding of work which does not 'speak to them'.

We believe there is a place for a community which enables figurative artists to show their work to others with a shared passion for figurative art. By making use of today's technology, community members can show their art, make comments and post their own views.
