These works show bathers enjoying themselves at the seaside in Italy. Both digital and hand-crafted methods are used, and a low relief format seeks to give the mechanical and processed character of the digital print a sense of the three dimensionality and other qualities of colour, texture and surface of the original subject.
Tiny fragments of changing time are linked together within an illusory picture space, which seems to embody depth, light and motion, and to celebrate the minute, inconsequential moments of commonplace activity, in which repetition and small variations become significant. Tiny involuntary dramas are frozen, isolated from the flow of time and space, against the incessant motion of the sea.
