collect figurative art. Selection Process
Work for submitted for Real is reviewed by our panel of selectors. The selectors comprise a team of artists, academics and consultants including:
Estelle Lovatt, Art Critic, broadcaster and writer.
Annelien Bruins, Founder and Director Bruins Private Collections
Tony Mott, Artist and Director of Studies, Heatherley School of Fine Art
Together with our selectors we are looking for the selected work to include a range of landscapes, human figures, portraiture and objects. All work needs to be figurative. We define 'figurative' in its broadest sense and consistent with our description of Go Figurative as ‘Art Based on Reality’.
We encourage a range of figurative including traditional and contemporary styles. Skilled rendering, composition and drawing is an obvious plus.

Guest Article: How do you like your art?
I have worked in the art world for almost ten years and every now and then I am still surprised by the different viewpoints that exist on the topic. For example, when I work I have a very functional view - I tend to think of an artwork as a thing made out of canvas, paint, steel, bronze, plastic or a combination of materials. This thing (or pair of things) needs to be framed, installed, condition checked, repaired, crated, flown, customs cleared, preferably not damaged and especially not lost.
