When did you first describe yourself as an artist?: 
Gradual progression from body painting and prosthetics in my film make up work - which led me to study sculpture full time.
Describe your early memories of your emerging talent as an artist?: 
The first time I went to a life class and tried clay modelling – was immediately addicted. I found it came very naturally and decided that was what I wanted to do as a career
Formal Training: 
London College of Fashon – Film/tv/theatre make up 1980 - 83
City and Guilds of London Art School – fine Art Sculpture degree 1995 - 1999
Informal Training: 
Weekly classes in figure modelling – ongoing..
Other influences: 
The human form .. people’s faces – endlessly inspirational. Italian renaissance clay and wax maquettes.
Admired Artists: 
Giambologna, Michaelangelo, Rodin.
Rembrandt, Holbein, Francis Bacon, Rosso.
Role of figurative art: 
To move – tap into universal emotions - express hidden truths & beauty - reveal the human condition.

Other Interests: 
I enjoy teaching and sharing my enthusiasm - and learning from others – coming to it as a 2nd career I have a long way still to go.. Tango takes up a huge part of my life – 2 or 3 nights a week dancing, which is a perfect antidote to sitting hunched over a portrait for hours, + the music is v emotional and beautiful and perfect to sculpt to. Between the two there’s not enough hours in the day for much else – family and friends have to squeeze in ..
